Quoth the horse with the broken legs,"No sir, I don't like it."
Ren and Stimp quotation: A+.
natty + kevin: liked 'discipline' a lot, don't like this one.frank + dan: disliked 'discipline,' and think this one is "more like it"chris: ?i disagree about the with teeth comparisons on this song, whereas 'discipline' reminds me so much of 'the hand that feeds' and things like it. to me this sounds like an upbeat ghosts track with vocals on it. see 16 ghosts II, 24 ghosts III, 29 ghosts IV.
maybe it's just because it's a "proper" song with vocals. i honestly think you guys would have no indifference/issue with it if it was an instrumental on ghosts...
possible. there are some songs on ghosts i am indifferent to. the difference is in presentation. i had to digest or pay attention to the lesseor songs on ghosts amidst 35 of its brethren. here, it is the sole new nine inch nails creation until more comes out on monday. since it is presented by itself with no other new songs to pay attention to (besided discipline, which we are of course comparing it to, because it is the second newest nin creation), it has to absorb the full effect of monological focus, rendering it as disappointing or exciting as you perceive it, with nothing else to contextualize it with or pay attention to for the moment.
...maybe this method of distribution isn't good, since we're all eager to make snap judgements. we should make a pact not to discuss it any further until whatever drops in a few days sinks in a bit more.
... i'm laughing, but wtf mate?sure. pact is made. just call me pactman.btw, "indifference" is not a snap judgment. It is an honest statement about my initial feeling, or lack thereof, upon first hearing the song. When I hear a song, I have a feeling, sometimes many feelings, and to give those feelings named when asked is not judgment. does that break the pact? i hope not. i was kind of into being called pactman.
exploding head: infamous scene from scanners. i lost focus at the end of your reply and it made my head want to pop. i should take a nap.waka waka waka waka waka waka
I vote yes to echoplex.
@frankie teardrop: chris: ?In the words of one of my college roommates, "We choose neither." I can neither say I really dig either of these songs, nor can I really say I hate them. My opinion has a terminal case of limbo at this point, so perhaps waiting until Monday to see what happens is indeed the wiser course of action.
