Glitter and Doom

It would be 754 miles and it would take twelve hours, one way, to get to Knoxville, Tennessee to see Tom Waits on June 29. Tickets go on sale tomorrow morning at a two per person maximum. Gas prices being what they are, this would be an expensive trip. Furthermore, the 29th is a Sunday night. That means no Monday work, or barely being conscious during it, or only wokring a half day seeing as twelve o'clock is the earliest we'd arrive back in New York if we were to leave the venue and drive straight back.

It sounds like insanity, but so does Bone Machine. That's why I like it.

why go to that far? why not ohio, 9 hours away, and on a saturday?

i might be getting my own crew together for this, but it might fall on its face due to the sheer cost. nobody has this kind of money lying around, ya know?

better plan, agreed.
but yeah. I've got nothing.
i don't think it's going to happen.

i don't think it is either. i just don't really have the capital. tickets are also $85, which is kind of ridiculous.

Agreed on all counts. Unless someone we know gets rich overnight, I have my doubts as to the feasibility of this plan.

And if gas money is blood money, he wouldn't want us to, right?

yup. honestly, my friend sara and i got really, really excited about this ohio plan, to the point that we were just going to say "the hell with money and jobs, let's do this," until we rationalized it and realised that it's probably just best to stay put and pray for a closer show. i'll accept anything in the tri-state area, but anywhere over a 5 hour drive is just pushing int...

It's so hard to reconcile Tom singing the songs on Bone Machine with recitals like "9th and Hennepin."

But that's why I like him.

Oh, and IT'S OVER! (except for grading some papers and entering final grades . . .)
