A Six-Part Suite Dedicated to the Biblical Progenitor of All Masturbation is Just the Beginning.

I am as far away as possible from the time and ability to write a review. But trust me. Did Ghosts make you feel smart? Are you looking for something different? Do you want something for contemplative moods and something that might blow your mind?

Nels Cline is both a true guitar god and a creative genius. His talent is currently being squandered in the blandness of the current incarnation of wilco, but it may be that successful gig that allows him to make albums like Coward on the side, so I'm not going to complain.

Do yourself a favor. Head over to Systems and Sounds and download Coward until you get a tangible copy.

The marker is 3:16 in the first track, and mind is officially blown.

Second track queued up, and I'm still into this. I don't want to be premature or anything, but I'm thinking top 5 material right here.

Also, some of this material reminds me of Lech Jankowski's compositions.

I am glad you like it and that you took my word and downloaded it.

I'm thinking you're right. If this doesn't make top five, then it will have been one awesome year in music. Albums I love so far:

Bruce Springsteen Working on a Dream
Morrissey Years of Refusal
Dark Was the Night
Nels Cline Coward

and the new Bat for Lashes has some rather good songs. you might like it more than me.

Lech Jankowski's not ringing any bells. Can you shoot me a link?

He's the man who composed most of the music for the Brothers Quay; I love the man's stuff. The Nels Cline track that bears the most resemblance to Jankowski's work is "Rod Poole's Gradual Ascent Into Heaven."

His official website is http://www.lechjankowski.com. There's four mp3s that (last time I checked) can be downloaded. He also has a CD available for purchase, but current exchange rate with the Euro means a bill of about $36 (too much for our current economic standing; we'll see about after that interview).

I forgot to tell you: an acquaintance of mine is studying with The Brothers Quay in Switzerland this summer.

The raging fanboy in me is jealous, but in the end, I wouldn't be able to contribute anything to the conversation with the Bros Quay other than, "OMG i lurve yr animations!! ROFLMAO!!!" I know little about stop motion animation, so I suppose I shouldn't be all that envious of your acquaintance who will actually be learning something.
